GEORGE CARLIN, CELEBRATED AND REMEMBERED: A SPECIAL EDITION QUIKCAST

In honor of his famous riff on The 10 Commandments, we're offering a special edition, 10-episode-long Quikcast of his greatest comedic moments. Big fun, now #9 -- and rising -- on the Lexy Top 10 list . Subscribe here.

SUBSCRIBE OR UNSUBSCRIBE BY PRESSING 8
Pressing 8 while listening to your Lexy playlist on the phone always has been a simple way to unsubscribe to a no-longer-wanted Quikcast. Now, pressing that same 8 key enables you to add a new Quikcast to your playlist. Hear a share or recommendation you like a lot? Just press 8 to subscribe.

IMPROVED PHONE-TO-PHONE SHARING: JUST SAY A NAME FROM YOUR PHONEBOOK
Got people in your Lexy phone book? Now, when you want to share with them, just say their name. Say "share with 'Mom'" and Lexy'll know where to send your share. It's easy and a great reason for you to add to your phonebook (Find the phonebook link in the upper right-hand corner of any lexy.com category page)!

MORE RECOMMENDATIONS

Check it out...it's Lexy's first testimonial! Here's a note that one of our founders received from a happy customer:
Over the past few months, I've been going on early morning walks/jogs around Mill Valley. Now with my Lexy playlist, I never walk alone!

Also, I have so many rollover minutes on my phones...it seems like such a waste to change plans or service providers (the use 'em or lose 'em strategy that the cell phone providers use to make it painful to make a switch). Lexy offers me a great added extra value for my stockpiled rollover minutes.

Now, whether it's on my walk, on the bus or stuck somewhere...Lexy is there to help me make the best use of my time. The content is eclectic, diverse and full of all kinds of nuggets of information and wisdom. Being a salesman, it helps to always have something new to talk about with customers and leads.

Thank you!

Creative Uses for Lexy

What a beautiful day in San Francisco. Here's a cool story I just heard about how a family is using Lexy...

Everyone in the family -- Mom, Dad, daughter in high school, son in middle school -- is subscribed to Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day quikcast. They each listen to WOD on Lexy in the morning, try to use the word during their day, and then during their dinnertime conversation, they have to try to use the word in conversation. Strong commitment to vocabulary-building and a fun way to bring the family together.

I imagine today's Word of the Day, "subreption," may prove a bit challenging :-).

What's new at Lexy

Greetings again from Lexy! Our latest release is up and running, and we’ve got lots of great new features to share with you! Our home base, www.lexy.com, is front and center, so give us a visit and see what’s new. Here’s what we’re talking about:

VOICE OF LEXY
On the phone, a new voice will greet you! Call 415-692-4933 to hear it now.

CREATE A PHONE BOOK
Now, there’s a phonebook option on www.lexy.com that lets you store the names, phone numbers and email addresses of the people you share with most. The “Phonebook” link is at the top right corner of the homepage.

SHARING IS NOW A BREEZE
You can now use the contacts from your phonebook when you want to share with someone from your mobile. Just say a name and Lexy’ll know where to send your share.

RECORD A MESSAGE
On the phone, you can now record a message to send along with your share. If today’s episode of 60 Second Science reminds you of your brother Mike, you can record a personalized note to send along with the episode – directly to his mobile phone!

SHARE FROM PLAYLIST
On the web, a share button now appears next to each of the Quikcast subscriptions in your playlist.

EPISODE TITLE IN PLAYLIST
In the playlist view, the title of the most recent episode now appears next to the Quikcast name.

NOTIFICATION PREFERENCES
Now, you decide exactly when Lexy contacts you about Quikcast updates. In the Edit Profile view, you can choose how you want to be notified by Lexy: immediately when each feed updates; once a day for all your subscriptions; twice weekly for all your subscriptions; or once a week for all your subscriptions. You can even choose the day and time we notify you. Great for a pre-commute reminder…

The Edit Profile link is at the top right hand corner of the homepage.

MORE PROGRAMS TO BUILD OUT YOUR PLAYLIST
There’s new stuff to hear! Visit www.lexy.com to check out the newest Quikcasts, or scroll down to the end of this email to get a taste of what’s new.

It just keeps getting better

Hello and happy almost Friday.

We've just rolled out our latest release, much of it with improvements based upon what we're hearing from you. We've fixed problems and added features to make Lexy better, more powerful and easier to use. Here's what's new:

REDUCED NOTIFICATIONS
We've reduced the volume of email and SMS notifications. We were sending out waaaayyyy too many alerts and you guys let us know. Until we offer you more control over how often you'd like to be alerted to new Quikcasts, we're capping alerts to either one email or one SMS per day.

We've also put a moratorium on late night SMS alerts. If you choose to receive text notifications, you'll get them at 8am PST (11am EST).

ENHANCED PROFILE
You can now edit your profile, including your notification preferences, name, email address and password. When logged in, simply click the "Edit Profile" link at the top right of the page.

PASSWORD HELP
You can reset your password by clicking on the "Forgot password?" link under the login button on our homepage.

PLAYLIST CONTROL
Now you can easily remove Quikcasts directly from your playlist when you're logged in.

PHONE NAVIGATION
While listening to Lexy on your mobile phone, you can now rewind, pause and fast forward. Press 4 to rewind, 5 to pause and 6 to fast-forward (check out the pic below).

MORE SELECTION
Our goal is to make sure that everyone has something they want to listen to on Lexy. We've added more Quikcasts and continue to do so regularly. Check out your favorite categories to see what's new.

Check out these changes at www.lexy.com!

Welcome to the Lexy Blog!

Hello everyone and welcome to the official Lexy blog, here to keep you updated on the latest and greatest company news, upcoming features, hot topics and customer feedback.

We’re super excited about Lexy, and we’d like to spread the love. In fact, if we had your mobile phone number, we would do just that — we’d share something with you, a joke, the latest news headlines, a Spanish lesson, whatever you fancy. From this share you could start your very own playlist, a collection of your favorite audio from the web, that Lexy would maintain and update automatically. That means everything you want to hear is in one place, in one playlist, that you can hear on your mobile phone or from your account on www.lexy.com.

All you have to do is select what you want to hear, and let us do the work for you. We’ll find your updates and alert you when we do, we’ll “sync” your subscriptions for you and have them fresh, ready and in order whenever you call in or click play.

To start building your playlist, create an account on www.lexy.com. To hear your playlist on your cell phone, call 415-692-4933. When you sign up online, we ask you for your mobile phone number so we can recognize it and have your playlist ready when you call in. Lexy works on every mobile device and every network. You don’t need a data plan because Lexy works on the voice channel of your mobile phone, and the service itself is completely free.

At Lexy, we’re excited about bringing rich, interactive content to mobile phones for free. ‘nuff said.

That’s all for our first post, but please stay tuned. Please send us comments, too!
